If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
May the Lord receive all glory and praise. I hear people say they have to work on Sabbath because their boss wants them to. They are putting their boss before the Lord and this is one reason they have not received the promise of this scripture. Also, Sabbath keepers in the USA are protected by law which is something many don’t know. I saw this promise clearer than ever today when I was at work. It’s a hug project, about 160 apartments for senior citizens. It’s for a catholic organization and when I first went there I asked if I could work on Sunday and the foreman on the project said no.
They are at the point where they need the model apartment to be done and the board was hung last Thursday and Friday. On top of no Sunday work there they don’t want working there without supervision. Which basically means the project supervisor needs to be on the job. The Lord has blessed me with with a good amount of ability in drywall finishing and so I use that to serve and glorify him. Not for any praise of my own. Out of all the men in our company they wanted me to finish the model apartment and my boss (after confirming with me that I would be willing to work) told them I could come in today (Sunday) and tomorrow (Memorial day). He knows that I will not work Sabbath, but I do work a lot of other days that most people don’t work too. As followers of Yeshua we do have to serve our earthly masters well.
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
When we follow the ways of the Lord he will bless us in many ways. Those who don’t keep Sabbath and disobey Elohim do not have his blessing and will also suffer the consequences. When my boss asked me if I would work on Sunday I said I would but had been told by them they didn’t want anyone working there on Sunday. He said that they would allow it if they were in a big enough hurry. My boss called me on Friday and told me I can work there on Sunday and Monday. I thought, the Lord is at work.
When we do all things as unto the Lord, especially in our work we will be preferred over other workers and this is a testimony in itself for the Lord. My boss used to have a habit of giving me compliments just to get me to do what he wanted. I saw through it and one day spoke up to him kindly about the matter and said, Come on, you’ve got other guys that are good also. He agreed and hasn’t done that since. But he did tell me that there is still a noticable difference between them and me because he said I actually care. That’s the Love of Elohim and nothing I can take credit for.
The other issue on this project was when one of our board hangers showed up on the job at 6am to work. We usually start when we want and at times I’ve been there before 6 am, I was just last week so I could get the compound on sooner so it would dry sooner. But on this big project we are doing when one of the guys showed up at 6am the project manager flipped his lid because there is an ordinance in that town that you can’t begin work that early. He went on to tell him that if he shows up that early again he would make him stay until the time he left. I told him not to worry about it because he can’t do that, we’re a sub contracting company and the General Contractor doesn’t have authority over our workers that way. They can only tell us if they need something done right away, etc. I also told him that I would look up the ordinance because I’m sure it only applies to outside workers and that they can’t control what you do inside a building.
I saw the project manager today, he stopped in for a bit to talk and fill me in on some information and it was interesting that he told me I can start at 6am if I want. I thought, uh huh, that’s what I figured too. When we are truly serving the Lord and walking in truth, we honor those who have authority over us and when they are wrong we respectfully can show them. Even Messiah before he was crucified asked to appeal his case. And we see that somethings it doesn’t work. But in the US for the most part when we follow the word of Elohim and behave as he shows us, we are not afraid and don’t have to submit to things that are not true. Yet we still walk in love towards those people and Elohim will reward us.
I didn’t bend according to their wishes because if I did it would mean that Elohim is not first in my life. But when we put him first, keep Sabbath and ALL the commandments he promises that he will cause us to ride upon the high places of the earth. But this is only when we humble ourselves. The way down is the way up. Those who rise up in pride will be humbled in the end. But when we humble ourselves the Lord will lift us up.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
You don’t have to compromise your faith for man’s benefit. Don’t cut yourself short, when you are a follower of Messiah, you are royalty, you are one of the children of the Most High! Take hold on his promises remembering that with every promise there is a condition.
Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.
