REGISTRATION AGREEMENT: By completing this process you agree that we reserve the right to reject or remove any registration we deem fit in our sole descretion. You may not register inappropriate nicknames or channels that contain vulgarity, libel or any illegal activity. REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS: You may connect with your own chat client such as mIRC if you have that. For those who are new to IRC you can use the chat applet we provide to complete this process. IMPORTANT: Please follow each step carefully, we have designed this process in such a way that when you register you will know if a nickname or channel name you choose has or has not been taken. Farther down this page you will find a chat applet, once the chat loads click on the "Show User Settings" button. This will open another small window, don't do anything with it yet. Type a nickname into the chat applet and click on the Connect button. Once you have succesfully connected to the chat room you can begin the registration process. Now go to the Settings window that you opened before connecting to chat. There you will find two functional buttons, NickServ Panel and ChanServ Panel. Once you have your own chat room, the MemoServ Panel and Channel Op (Operator) Panel will be functional but you don't need these at this point since you are only registering. First step is to register your nickname. Go to the Settings window and click on the NickServ Panel button. Then click on Register and enter a password (write this down and keep it in a safe place) and your email address and click on the Register Nickname button. A passcode will be emailed to you. This step is important so that we can verify your registration. In the email you will see a line similiar to this, "/msg NickServ confirm jeuDFeosDe". Copy and paste it without the quotes into the chat window being sure that the forward slash is the first character. All IRC commands begin with / so make sure that is first and has no spaces before it. It will send the message to NickServ (Nickname Services) and will verify your registration. Your email address remains confidential on our server and is only used by us to communicate with our clients. Second Step: Channel Registration: First choose a name for your channel and put a pound character in front of it, such as #MyChannel Once you have chosen a name you are ready to register your channel you must be in the channel and have operator privileges you can proceed to register your channel. In the chat window you will type this command /join #MyChannel (replace #MyChannel with your actual channel name). Once you are in the channel and have operator privileges you can now register it. If you have operator privileges you will have an @ symbol predeeding your nickname. Now go to your Settings window and click on ChanServ Panel. Then click on the Register button. You will see three fields there. Type your channel name in the Channel field (i.e. #MyChannel). Then type in a password in the password field. Finally, type in a description for your channel (i.e. My chat room). Finally, click the Register This Channel button. You're done! Once you have the applet code on your web page, go there to login. When you log into the chat you will need to identify to your nickname so you can gain access. To do this simply type your nickname password into the Nickname Password field. If you have typed your password and nickname correctly you will have administrative access to your channel. You can also add other operators on various levels. In your java chat you will need to change three lines of code so people will connect to your channel. Where it says #ChristianLife you will need to change this to your channel name. We will check your chat periodically to ensure these conditions are set. Chats that do not comply will be disabled. <param name=chanlock value="#ChristianLife"> You can get the source code from our Code Page If you need more help once you are connected to chat simply type /help A list of other commands will be displayed in your chat, follow the instructions there. "/helpop usercmds" will show you a list of other commands. SERVICES COMMANDS HELP: This covers the basics you can now begin to explore the world of IRC and communicate with others online!
